The Courteeners

The Courteeners new album is released today (22nd Feb) and the lead singer Liam Fray isn't shy about a bit of self promotion!

He released a statement through email claiming: "
We've made one of the best records of recent times. All you lot have to do is go out, buy it and turn up the f**king volume. You're gonna love it. We had a ball writing it and recording it, now it's your turn."

Well it isn't often that the shy and retiring amoung us get noticed, so he could be onto a winner here!

The reviews so far have been fairly pleasing for the band with the BBC stating 'That Fray’s savvy, gritty-funny lyrics will be compared to Alex Turner’s just emphasises that arch couplets are so rare in pop today that we only have one reference point outside Moz himself...Falcon will set The Courteeners soaring.'

NME
have also given a mildly positive review (as positive as NME ever give anyway!) 'What’s different this time is that not only has the ratio of glories to mishaps been virtually turned on its head, it’s that The Courteeners have developed the ability to, at points, blow away tribal allegiances with hooks forged from pure indie gold...

So, are you Blur, Oasis… or maybe Courteeners?'
